Job Scope
The Senior Manager – Procurement (Pharmaceutical Industry) will lead company's pharmaceutical procurement function with primary responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations, and profitability enhancement. The role is 80% procurement-focused and 20% supply chain-focused, ensuring strong supplier partnerships while maintaining product availability across the network.
The incumbent will build strategic relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, lead Joint Business Planning (JBP), negotiate commercial agreements, improve margins, and collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Commercial
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and key stakeholders.
- Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, trade margins, rebates, credit terms, promotional support, shelf rentals, and marketing investments.
- Drive Joint Business Planning (JBP) with key suppliers to maximize business growth.
- Achieve gross margin, trade income, and procurement savings targets.
- Identify opportunities for assortment optimization, new product introductions, and supplier development.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure service, commercial, and quality standards are achieved.
- Negotiate continuous improvements in commercial and credit terms.
Supply Chain (20%)
- Ensure product availability by overseeing purchase planning and replenishment.
- Maintain inventory levels and stock days within agreed targets.
- Minimize stock-outs, overstock, and expiry losses through effective inventory management.
- Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, and Operations to ensure timely product availability.
- Ensure product master data accuracy and support continuous process improvements.

Education
- MBA/Master's in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Pharmacy, or related field.
Experience
- 10–15 years of pharmaceutical procurement experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience in retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical distribution, or healthcare procurement.
- Proven expertise in commercial negotiations, supplier relationship management, and JBP execution.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
